Zapier and Pinterest

WHAT IS ZAPIER?

When I first found out about Zapier I was almost jumping up and down in my home office. I was so desperate because I really didn't have any spare time to do "boring" office work and Zapier felt like a life saver.

Zapier was able to automate tasks that I needed but didn't want to do manually or even didn't know how to do it at all!

Zapier is a web-based automation tool that allows users to connect different apps and services together, and automate workflows between them.

Some of the key features of Zapier include:

  1. Automation: Zapier allows users to automate repetitive tasks between different apps, making it easier to manage workflows and streamline processes. You can perform up to 100 actions in a single Zap.

  2. Integration: Zapier integrates with over 5,000 apps and services, including popular tools like Google Sheets, Trello, and Slack.

  3. Customization: Zapier offers a range of customization options, allowing users to create customized workflows and automations that meet their specific needs.

  4. Multi-step Zaps: Zapier allows users to create multi-step Zaps, which means they can create complex workflows that involve multiple actions and apps. You can automate several tasks at once.

  5. Filters: Zapier's filters allow users to specify certain conditions or criteria that must be met in order for a Zap to trigger, helping to refine workflows and avoid unnecessary actions.

  6. Paths: Zapier's Paths feature allows users to create conditional workflows that have multiple possible outcomes based on different conditions or triggers.

Zapier can truly be a helping hand when you manage your Pinterest Marketing by yourself. It's a lot like IFTTT but I find it more versatile especially if you are using it for business purposes.

It's easy to say that Zapier is definitely a sophisticated and advanced automation tool. With the help of Zapier you can connect apps that don't have a ready made integration between them.

You can start using Zapier with 14-day trial of premium features and apps.

The Free Zapier account has 100 tasks per month, and you can use only single-step Zaps. The Starter package is around 20 USD/month, and includes 750 tasks per month. You can use multi-step Zaps, filters and formatter, and different versions. And of course, there are also bigger packages for professional and business use. You should check out their pricing info!

ZAPS THAT I'VE USED IN MY PINTEREST SERVICES BUSINESS

I manage other people's Pinterest accounts in addition to my own ones, and I always try to streamline all the task which are not purely strategic in nature in order to save some time.

One of the first Zaps that I created for my Pinterest business has helped me to grow my e-mail list, and make the process of gathering e-mail addresses easy and effortless.

SQUARESPACE + CONVERTKIT + GOOGLE SHEETS + ZAPIER

As my website is on Squarespace and I was using ConvertKit as my e-mail marketing system, I wanted to connect those two platforms. That’s because Squarespace didn’t have a direct in-built integration to ConvertKit. That's when Zapier and Google Drive came into the play.

Basically, I've created Squarespace buttons to my website and when people clicked the button, it opened up a pop-up to be filled in.

The info that people filled in automatically added to Google sheets with the help of Zapier. The info transferred to my ConvertKit.

Zapier told ConvertKit that a new subscriber has been added, and it's time to send the welcome e-mail to the subscriber.

The info which was collected from my website on Google spreadsheets was also a backup of my e-mail list.

Nowadays, I use Flodesk* as my email system. You can use Flodesk with Zapier in so many ways, too. I haven’t used it yet but I found at least one integration that can help me to manage my Pinterest business. I could use a Zap which creates Flodesk subscribers from Podia sales (I have an online course called Pinterest Akatemia on Podia).

BEST PINTEREST RELATED ZAPS

Zapier can help you to automate your Pinterest management and workflow in many ways.

I've listed my favourite ones below. I can really recommend these to anyone who wants to automate their Pinterest workflow, and spend more time creating amazing content than just pinning or sharing manually the content online.

PINTEREST AND...

1. INSTAGRAM

In addition to Pinterest, I like using Instagram (they are both highly visual platforms, so no wonder!). With one Zap you can automate all your Instagram posts to be pinned to your specific Pinterest boards.

If you want to learn more on how to automatically share Instagram photos on Pinterest, I recommend that you check out this Zapier’s blog post regarding Pinterest and Instagram which has really helpful instructions.

2. FACEBOOK

For me, the best way to connect Pinterest to Facebook is to create a Zap where my own pin goes automatically to my Facebook business page as a post.

First you should select the Pinterest board where your new pin will be pinned. Then you'll choose your Facebook page where you'd like to have that pin posted.

You will also need to add a message to your post. I prefer to use the pin description as my Facebook post message as that is already keyword optimized.

In addition to creating a Facebook posts from your pins, you can also share your pins as photos on your Facebook page.

3. WORDPRESS

I encourage my clients to blog if they want to succeed on Pinterest. That's not always the prerequisite for Pinterest success but in many times it helps a lot.

Bloggers and brand that create articles on their website can automate their content sharing. That's really easy via Zapier - to and from Pinterest via two different Zaps related to WordPress.

If you're using a WordPress as your website and blogging platform, there's a specific Zap which automatically shares your blog posts as pins on your Pinterest boards.

When you have published your blog post on WordPress the Zap will automatically pin your featured image and its title to the Pinterest board that you've chosen.

The other WordPress related Pinterest Zaps help you to create a WordPress post from your pin, and upload Pinterest photos to your WordPress. Those Zaps I have not used myself.

4. TWITTER

Sometimes, I’ve automated my certain pins to be shared via Buffer to my Twitter account but you can do it also without Buffer, directly from Twitter.

You can make your pins to be tweeted as image tweets on Twitter via Zapier. Once again, a great tool to share easily if your content is highly visual!

And of course you can also do the vice versa and share your Twitter post to your Pinterest boards. Find the relevant Zap: Twitter + Pinterest.

5. AIRTABLE

I heard about Airtable first time when I checked Zapier's Pinterest related Zaps.

I found this one particular Airtable Zap which is really cool and helps me to manage my Pinterest account.

With Zapier and Airtable, you can keep track on your Pinterest followers! The Zap can automatically add info regarding your Pinterest followers to your Airtable.

This is an easy way to follow up who have followed your account, and see for example what kind of keywords they are using in their Pinterest bio descriptions.

You can collect the following info regarding your new Pinterest followers:

- Pinterest username

- Pinterest bio

- How many followers the account has

- When they started to follow your account

- How active they are

When you're collecting data about your followers, you can easily research what keywords they are using in their bio description, are they Pinterest newbies (date of joining Pinterest) and whether they have lots of followers or just few. If you also like to see whether they are active on Pinterest, you may want to collect their pin amount too.

If you don't want to use Airtable to track your followers, you can also use Google Sheets. You can add same info to your Google spreadsheets as in Airtable.

Here you will find the Pinterest + Google Sheets integration on Zapier to collect your followers' data: Google Sheets & Pinterest

You can also add new Pinterest pins directly from Google sheets to your Pinterest boards. That’s one of the best ways to add pins in bulk to Pinterest. You may want to check this Zap out!

6. BUFFER

You can fill up your Buffer queue with Zapier. You can schedule your pins to different social media sites via Buffer.

You just choose the Pinterest board where you create new pins which are then scheduled via Buffer to any of your Buffer accounts.

I used to schedule my pins to my Twitter account via Buffer. I could do that directly via Zapier but I'm just used to use Buffer for that. Hah!

7. EVERNOTE

I haven't been using Evernote so much lately but if you want to save info on your pins you can do it with Evernote notes.

  1. First you choose the Evernote notes where you want your data to be added. (Tip: I created a new notes first before creating the Zap when I used that Zap.)

  2. Then you choose which data from the pin you'd like to collect to your Evernote notes.

The most important data for me is always the pin description, and also link title and article name metadata. You can also choose to add pin image and other pin data to your notes on Evernote.

After you have collected all that amazing info to your Evernote, you can start studying the data and find useful keywords that you may want to use when you write your own pin descriptions.

There's also another Evernote zap that I can recommend if you want to use Evernote as a place where you collect inspiration.

To collect all ideas related to a particular project, start by creating Evernote Append notes Zap. This Zap is great for example when you want to add inspirational pin photos to your Evernote project.

8. GOOGLE DRIVE

If you don't want to use Evernote to collect your important pin data, I recommend that you use Google Drive instead.

When creating a new Zap, choose first your Google Drive account and set up your Google Drive file. Choose a Google Drive folder where you will add the data from Pinterest.

Add file name, and file content to your Zap. You can use your pin title as your file name and add relevant interesting metadata as your file content.

You can also choose to convert your added data as an editable document. I recommend you to do so if you want to be able to organize your pin info.

There are also other Zaps that you can used together with Pinterest and Google Drive. You can pin new Google Drive files to your Pinterest boards in bulk and create new files in Drive of your new Pinterest pins.

9. ZENKIT

I bet you'd like to make your blogging life easier and automate your to-do list! Yes, I knew it! That's why I can recommend you to try Pinterest together with Zenkit.

Zenkit is a project management tool.

Zapier will automatically create pins added to a certain Pinterest board into items in your Zenkit collection.

You can then share your ideas and inspiration with others that you work with. You can also prioritize, and track the progress of your added items on Zenkit.

I used to use Zenkit to collect my blog post ideas, and also to collect ideas for online courses that I was planning to create.

I added interesting pins to my Blog editorial collection on Zenkit and marked them as "to do". I also added a due date to each item and assigned it to someone if someone was going to write a blog post to my website.

10. OTHERS

I checked Zapier's Pinterest related Zaps the other day and found out that there are lots of other Zaps available than what I've used myself. I bet you’ll find some that could help you with your Pinterest marketing, and handling your systems and workflows.

FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN

- add your ShopifyGumroad, CloudCart and WooCommerce items as pins to Pinterest (this helps to save your time tremendously if you are selling products on these platforms as you don't have to pin manually each item to Pinterest!)

- create to-do lists on Trello by pinning things from Pinterest

- automate your pinning by creating pins to a specific folder in Dropbox and on your Google Drive where they are automatically pinned to your Pinterest board

List of OTHER Zaps

Here's a list of other Zaps that you can check out on Zapier page:

Add pins to your Pinterest boards from new RSS feed items

Post new Pinterest pins to Slack channels

You can create pins to your boards from new tagged items on Pocket
