WHAT IS ZAPIER?

When I first discovered Zapier, I could barely contain my excitement. As a busy entrepreneur, I was desperately seeking ways to automate the mundane office tasks that were consuming my valuable time.

Zapier appeared as a game-changer, offering the ability to automate tasks I either dreaded doing manually or didn't know how to accomplish at all.

The Power of Zapier

Zapier is a web-based automation tool that connects different apps and services, allowing users to create seamless workflows between them. Here are some key features that make Zapier an indispensable tool for businesses:

  1. Automation: Zapier enables users to automate repetitive tasks across different apps, streamlining workflows and boosting productivity. You can perform up to 100 actions in a single Zap.

  2. Integration: With over 5,000 apps and services integrated, including popular tools like Google Sheets, Trello, and Slack, Zapier offers vast possibilities for connection.

  3. Customization: The platform provides a range of customization options, allowing users to create tailored workflows that meet their specific needs.

  4. Multi-step Zaps: Users can create complex workflows involving multiple actions and apps, automating several tasks at once.

  5. Filters: Zapier's filters allow users to set specific conditions or criteria for triggering a Zap, refining workflows and preventing unnecessary actions.

  6. Paths: The Paths feature enables users to create conditional workflows with multiple possible outcomes based on different triggers or conditions.

Zapier vs. IFTTT

While Zapier is similar to IFTTT (If This Then That), I find it more versatile, especially for business applications. Zapier's ability to connect apps that don't have ready-made integrations sets it apart as a sophisticated and advanced automation tool.

Pricing and Plans

Zapier offers a 14-day trial of premium features and apps. Here's a quick overview of their plans:

  • Free: basic workflows with 100 tasks per month, two-step Zaps, AI power-ups, unlimited zaps

  • Professional: ~$20/month, multi-step Zaps, unlimited premium apps, webhooks and email-support

  • Team and Enterprise: Larger packages available for more extensive use

Visit Zapier's pricing page for detailed information on all plans.

Zapier and Pinterest: A Powerful Combination

Now, let's explore how Zapier can revolutionize your Pinterest marketing strategy. Here are some of the most effective Zaps I've used in my Pinterest services business:

1. Grow Your Email List

One of my first Zaps helped me grow my email list effortlessly. Here's how it works:

Squarespace + ConvertKit + Google Sheets + Zapier

  • Create Squarespace buttons on your website

  • When clicked, a pop-up form appears

  • Zapier transfers the filled information to Google Sheets

  • Zapier notifies ConvertKit of the new subscriber

  • ConvertKit sends a welcome email to the subscriber

  • Google Sheets serves as a backup for your email list

Note: I now use Flodesk for email marketing, which also integrates well with Zapier.

2. Automate Social Media Cross-Posting

Instagram to Pinterest

Automatically pin your Instagram posts to specific Pinterest boards. This Zap is perfect for maintaining consistency across visual platforms.

Pinterest to Facebook

Create a Zap that automatically shares your new pins to your Facebook business page. Use the pin description as your Facebook post message for keyword optimization.

WordPress to Pinterest

For bloggers, automatically share new blog posts as pins on your Pinterest boards. This Zap uses your featured image and post title to create the pin.

3. Track Pinterest Followers with Airtable

Use Zapier to automatically add information about your new Pinterest followers to an Airtable base. This Zap helps you track:

  • Pinterest username

  • Pinterest bio

  • Follower count

  • Follow date

  • Activity level

This data can provide valuable insights into your audience and help refine your Pinterest strategy.

If you don't want to use Airtable to track your followers, you can also use Google Sheets. You can add the same info to your Google spreadsheets as in Airtable.

Here you will find the Pinterest + Google Sheets integration on Zapier to collect your followers' data: Google Sheets & Pinterest

You can also add new Pinterest pins directly from Google sheets to your Pinterest boards. That’s one of the best ways to add pins in bulk to Pinterest. You may want to check this Zap out!

4. Streamline Content Curation with Evernote

I haven't been using Evernote so much lately but if you want to save info on your pins you can do it with Evernote notes. Create Zaps that save pin data to Evernote notes. This can help you:

  • Collect pin descriptions for keyword research

  • Save inspirational pins for future projects

  • Organize ideas for content creation

Firstly, you choose the Evernote notes where you want your data to be added. (Tip: I created a new notes first before creating the Zap when I used that Zap). Then you choose which data from the pin you'd like to collect to your Evernote notes.

The most important data for me is always the pin description, and also the pin title and article name metadata. You can also choose to add pin image and other pin data to your notes on Evernote.

After you have collected all that amazing info for your Evernote, you can start studying the data and find useful keywords that you may want to use when you write your pin descriptions.

There's also another Evernote zap that I can recommend if you want to use Evernote as a place where you collect inspiration.

To collect all ideas related to a particular project, start by creating Evernote Append notes Zap. This Zap is great for example when you want to add inspirational pin photos to your Evernote project.

5. Manage Pinterest-Inspired Projects with Zenkit

I bet you'd like to make your blogging life easier and automate your to-do list! Yes, I knew it! That's why I recommend you try Pinterest together with Zenkit.

Use Zapier to create items in your Zenkit collection from pins added to a specific Pinterest board. This can help you:

  • Share ideas and inspiration with your team

  • Prioritize and track progress on Pinterest-inspired projects

  • Organize your blog post ideas or course creation process

Zenkit is a project management tool. Zapier will automatically create pins added to a certain Pinterest board into items in your Zenkit collection.

You can then share your ideas and inspiration with others that you work with. You can also prioritize, and track the progress of your added items on Zenkit.

I used to use Zenkit to collect my blog post ideas and also to collect ideas for online courses that I was planning to create.

I added interesting pins to my Blog editorial collection on Zenkit and marked them as "to do". I also added a due date to each item and assigned it to someone if someone was going to write a blog post to my website.

 6. Streamline Social Media Scheduling with Buffer

Buffer is a popular social media management tool, and Zapier can help you integrate it seamlessly with Pinterest:

  • Automatically add new pins to your Buffer queue

  • Schedule pins from specific Pinterest boards to different social media platforms via Buffer

  • Use Buffer to schedule your pins to Twitter or other social networks

This integration saves time by allowing you to manage multiple social media platforms from one place, while still leveraging Pinterest's visual content.

7. Organize and Back Up Pinterest Content with Google Drive

Google Drive integration offers several useful automations:

  • Automatically save pin data (descriptions, links, images) to Google Sheets

  • Create new Google Drive files from your Pinterest pins

  • Pin new files from Google Drive to your Pinterest boards in bulk

These Zaps help you keep your Pinterest content organized, backed up, and easily accessible for future use or analysis.

When creating a new Zap, choose first your Google Drive account and set up your Google Drive file. Choose a Google Drive folder where you will add the data from Pinterest.

Add file name, and file content to your Zap. You can use your pin title as your file name and add relevant interesting metadata as your file content.

You can also choose to convert your added data as an editable document. I recommend you to do so if you want to be able to organize your pin info.

There are also other Zaps that you can use together with Pinterest and Google Drive. You can pin new Google Drive files to your Pinterest boards in bulk and create new files in Drive of your new Pinterest pins.

8. Track Analytics with Google Sheets

Create a Zap that automatically adds data about your new Pinterest followers to a Google Sheet. Similar to the Airtable integration, this allows you to:

  • Track follower growth over time

  • Analyze follower demographics and interests

  • Identify trends in your Pinterest audience

9. Automate E-commerce Pins

For e-commerce businesses, Zapier offers integrations with popular platforms:

  • Automatically pin new Shopify products to Pinterest

  • Create pins from new Gumroad items

  • Pin new WooCommerce products to specific boards

These integrations ensure that your Pinterest boards always showcase your latest products without manual effort.

10. Enhance Project Management with Trello

Create Zaps that turn Pinterest pins into Trello cards:

  • Add pins to specific Trello boards or lists

  • Create to-do lists on Trello by pinning things from Pinterest

  • Use Trello to manage and track your Pinterest-inspired projects

This integration helps you turn Pinterest inspiration into actionable tasks and projects.

11. Stay Updated with Slack Notifications

Keep your team in the loop with Slack integrations:

  • Post new Pinterest pins to specific Slack channels

  • Get notified in Slack when someone pins from your website

  • Share Pinterest analytics updates with your team via Slack

12. Create Pins from RSS Feeds

Automate content sharing by creating a Zap that:

  • Adds pins to your Pinterest boards from new RSS feed items

  • Automatically shares your latest blog posts or podcast episodes on Pinterest

13. Save Ideas with Pocket Integration

If you use Pocket to save interesting content, you can:

  • Create pins on your boards from new tagged items in Pocket

  • Automatically save pins to Pocket for later reading or reference
